The University of Connecticut’s Office of University Communications seeks a Web Developer to work in a collaborative small-team environment applying expertise and knowledge of web development and management techniques to design, develop, analyze and maintain high-profile websites such as uconn.edu, health.uconn.edu, admissions.uconn.edu, and today.uconn.edu. Minimum Acceptable Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in computer-related field and two to three years of programming experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong demonstrated knowledge of HTML5, JavaScript and CSS. Thorough knowledge of PHP or other object-oriented web programming language used in web application development. Experience in Responsive Web Design (RWD) techniques. Experience using revision control such as Git or Subversion/SVN. Evidence of ability to independently analyze and translate assigned programs into operating programs and prepare detailed program documentation. Good written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications: Job history indicating growth and development in the field. Experience or interest in DevOps. Working knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL). Experience in managing and configuring web, file, and application server environments. Experience in writing shell scripts for Unix and Linux environments. Experience in developing themes, plugins, or modules for WordPress or Drupal CMS’. Experience developing locally with Vagrant and Docker. Appointment Terms: This is a full-time (35 hrs/week) position at the Storrs Campus.
