Web Programmer

Altitude Marketing is hiring an entry level web programmer who will be responsible for assisting in the development of new client WordPress websites; maintaining, updating and improving existing client websites; and assisting with the maintenance of our web hosting environment.
Candidates must:

• Have experience creating & troubleshooting WordPress page templates and installing plugins
• Be detail oriented and relentlessly quality check everything that you do
• Have experience in solving hosting issues and in problem-solving technical issues in the rare occasion that a site goes down
• Be up-to-date on the latest trends in web and server technology

SITE DEVELOPMENT, MAINTENANCE & UPDATES

• Address website tickets and fixes in addition to maintaining the security of individual sites
• Install WordPress version updates and plugin updates
• Assist in the development of a functional spec for each website prior to development
• Serve as liaison to and assist in managing our programming/development partners to ensure all technical solutions are properly architected and follow spec
• Manage final QC and launch procedures of the site once approved by Director, Web Services
• Update / create CSS styles as needed
• Create new page templates as needed
• Assist in website buildout as needed
• Provide basic WordPress training to clients as requested
• Perform regular upgrades to all existing WordPress client websites as security patches and version updates are released

SERVER MAINTENANCE

• Maintain security protocols on server side, as well as general upkeep of servers
• Manage long-term view of server farm
• Coordinate with clients’ IT staff to facilitate site migration between servers
• Advise on future hosting decisions
• Monitor and tweak web servers as needed for speed and efficiency

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Associates degree or equivalent experience
• Experience developing, debugging and performance-tuning WordPress installs, plugins and theme

KEY COMPETENCIES

• Working knowledge of PHP, MySQL, CSS, HTML, JavaScript, jQuery, and SSH.
• Working knowledge of web hosting, server maintenance and web security protocols
• Exceptional communication skills
• Ability to handle multiple project deadlines at once in a high-pressure environment
• Must be self-motivated and have good time management skills to meet deadlines
• Must be able to work in a team setting and support multiple team members and projects
