Oracle Girl Donations Ltd

United Kingdom

  • Job #WPHIRE001916

We need technical support in the form of a WordPress specialist to maintain our current system, fix and troubleshoot ongoing problems with ever increasing numbers of donients (the term for clients offering a donation) and technical queries. This current system is a set up of WordPress with WooCommerce. This role would start immediately and last for a number of weeks, with a possible extension to 1 or 2 months.

The role is a freelance remote position and a strong digital background would be ideal. We would prefer someone who is inspired by the values and nature of the work of the organisation but this is not absolutely essential. You must however be able to work to a deadline and be willing to sign an NDA alongside your fixed term contract.

We estimate the role would be 14 hrs per week. Your salary will be set by mutual agreement based on previous experience and the hours per week we agree on.

Required skills and description of the job

It is absolutely essential you have knowledge of and experience with WordPress in combination with WooCommerce.

You ‘speak’ PHP and if necessary you can write some PHP code to extend WordPress via a plugin and/or you are confident modifying existing plugins written in PHP.

You are familiar working with phpMyAdmin to check and or modify the database if necessary.

It is an advantage if you have experience with WooCommerce optimisation and if you have experience with Mailgun.

Your work will entail the following:

1. General donient support regarding pending payments, amending incorrect orders, cancelling customer accounts and following EU GDPR processes, monthly financial reporting from the sys- tem for the shop and back up on technical emails when needed.

Answering questions: this means sometimes looking in the WooCommerce orders, checking Mailgun logs, MailPoet lists, maybe the database (via phpMyAdmin) and then connecting the dots to formulate a clear and integrated response.
In some cases, there might be a little adjustment needed to WordPress, WooCommerce or other files.
Keep WP running: invest some time to optimise the system that it will keep running with current and increasing visitors and server load. It might be helpful to have some understanding about optimisation, especially regarding WooCommerce.
There is no urgent need to update all files and/or plugins to the latest versions, it is much more important to keep the current system running with as little loading time as possible.
