We are looking for a skilled, motivated web developer to join our team. Working closely with our designer and content writer, you will build, maintain and improve a variety of websites. Your work will range from simple adjustments to existing WordPress sites, building projects from the ground-up, through to developing and working on bespoke systems.

The role would ideally suit someone who wants to see their efforts appreciated, their opinions valued, and who would enjoy being a key contributor to the success of a growing company. It would also help if you like Dim-Sum, as that’s a firm favourite on team lunches!

Essential technical skills

It’s essential that you are experienced and confident in:

  • WordPress development, including:Creating bespoke plugins and themes
    • Use of actions and filters
    • Working with custom fields and post types
    • Multisite
  • PHP
  • HTML and CSS (including use of the Bootstrap framework)
  • APIs (e.g. WordPress Rest API, third-party APIs)
  • Version-controlling tools, ideally Git

 

Desirable technical skills

You should also be familiar with, or be willing to learn:

  • Software design patterns, such as MVC and OOP
  • Javascript programming
  • Use of front-end and back-end technologies, in particular:
    • Vue
    • Laravel
    • Mustache templating
  • Setting-up and running development environments
  • MySQL
  • Best practice principles for SEO
  • Server set-up and maintenance using services such as cPanel and AWS
  • Unix/Linux system and not afraid of the command line

  • Logical, methodical approach with excellent problem-solving skills

  • Self-starter, able to work without micromanagement
  • Excellent time-management
  • Able to stick to deadlines and deliver projects on time
