Alchemy+Aim is a strategy and website development company, specializing in helping thought leaders, entrepreneurs and creative businesses.

The Basics of the Technical Director Job:

+ You would be lead developer on the team. We’re looking for someone who is really knowledgeable about WordPress development, PHP, CSS, and Javascript, who can lead the team in learning and developing websites. You’ll also be helping team members troubleshoot problems on projects as they arise, and onboarding new developers to the team, showing them the systems we use and performing regular code reviews.

+ You would be developing custom WordPress sites. You would be developing custom WordPress themes and websites from designs provided via Photoshop, Illustrator, and Sketch. Your syntax style should be consistent, understandable, and commented where needed. You must ensure content population is intuitive and easy for the client by using appropriate fields and comments.

+ You would be responsible for technical support requests and our technical support system. We want a team member who can handle/organize incoming tech support requests and communicate with clients. For sites we’ve developed, you would be responsible for making changes where necessary to site and keeping repos up-to-date with changes.

+ You would be regularly researching new plugins, codes, or other trends in website development. We want to truly serve our clients and make sure we’re well-informed and constantly learning about the best features, plugins, and ways of doing things that are out there.

+ You would be responsible for overseeing some general company systems, such as backing up site data and running regular security checks.

+ You would be communicating with the team regularly. We use Slack for regular communication and Basecamp for project management. There are also some team meetings and individual meetings.

Job benefits:
+ You can work from anywhere. No moving for a job involved. If you’re happy where you are, stay there. If you’re unhappy, move somewhere new. This job will go with you. (If you want to spend a month working from the Italian countryside or in a Scottish pub — we do that sometimes, more power to you.)

+ You decide what you want your hours to be. You just need to communicate with the team regularly, with your hours overlapping EST business hours for at least 4-5 hours per day.

+ You start out as a contractor, with the option to move to a full-time position. We want to make sure you’re the right fit for us and we’re the right fit for you. After 3 months, we’ll discuss the move to full-time. We have a solid benefits package and lots of flexibility for our team members.
